The Milky Way rolls across the heavens in this nighttime photograph taken at Monahans Sandhills State Park. Using a star tracker, the camera captures the twinkle of a million stars as a long exposure tracks them across this sky. This allows the stars to appear as we see them – a sharp point of light with no “trailing.” The foreground was taken separately and the two were blended together to show what our eyes see but the cameral cannot capture.
