Milky Way over Lone Eagle Peak in June 2
Indian Peaks Wilderness
This Lone Eagle Peak image shows the June Milky Way as it looms over the valley and Mirror Lake in the Indian Peaks Wilderness. Grand County has many hidden gems, and this remote landscape is one of the most stunning. The trek here from Monarch Lake is around 16 miles round trip, but the elevation gain isn’t too strenuous. As you follow Cascade Creek, the trail leads alongside a mile or more of cascading waterfalls, providing amazing scenery during the walk. Moose are also plentiful in this area. On this particular walk to the peak, we saw three young bull moose right in our path. Photo © copyright by Rob Greebon.
