From a small butte along the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive on the western slope of the Chisos Mountains, this panorama shows the layers of mountains that rise from the Chihuahuan Desert of Big Bend National Park. Taken in the morning as sunlight filtered through the rare humidity, the mountains of this amazing place in south Texas show off the rugged and beautiful landscape. On the right (south) are the iconic “Mule Ears” that rise pointedly from their surroundings.
