Taken with a long lens at ~ 150mm, this image shows the Andromeda Galaxy as it slowly faded beneath the western horizon not long after sunset. In the foreground are the cascades of Pedernales Falls.
This image is a comprised of two separate photos. The first was taken using a Sky-Watcher star tracker which allows for precise tracking and eliminates star trails. The moving clouds in the sky how up as wisps of faint light as they glide across the night sky. The second image, that of the Pedernales landscape, was taken with the same lens in another long exposure to allow some detail to show up in the rocks and cascades. Both were blended together using the magic of photoshop. This helps the image show what our eyes can see but the camera can’t capture in a single image. Photo © copyright by Rob Greebon.
