Who is Rob?
My name is Rob Greebon, and my family and I are currently based in the not-so-sleepy town of Dripping Springs - self-proclaimed gateway to the Hill Country. These days, though, I spend about half my time in my home-away-from home, Winter Park, Colorado. When I'm in the mountains, it feel like I'm a local.

Growing up, I spent as much time outdoors as possible, whether playing sports or walking barefoot down country creek beds. As I expanded my horizons, I grew to love the more remote places and their rugged beauty. During my college years attending the University of Texas at Austin, I worked summers in the mountains of Colorado, spending nearly all of my free time hiking and fly-fishing - even guiding occasionally. After graduation, I backpacked with friends through Europe, taking along a point-and-shoot Kodak camera. That’s when I fell in love with traveling. Since that point, I’ve backpacked and visited over 25 countries, and recently spent two summers in Iceland and even a week in the Arctic Circle in Norway.

After that initial summer of backpacking after college, I bought my first digital camera - a Pentax 3.2mp - that I started taking on fly-fishing trips. Over the course of time, I found myself taking more photographs than I did pulling in brook trout from a stream at 9,000’ up in the mountains. And that’s how it started.

These days, I put my liberal arts undergrad and masters degree to good use! I work with designers and media outlets across Texas and Colorado. I currently have five books in publication (Big Bend National Park, Texas Wildflowers, San Antonio, and two covering Austin, Texas). I’ve been published in numerous magazines, including Texas Highways, Texas Parks & Wildlife Magazine, Outdoor Magazine, and Backpacker Magazine. Clients include Hyatt Hotels, the University of Texas, Texas A&M, West Texas A&M, Fox7 News, the Audobon Society, the Archer Hotel, Google, and several law firms and hospitals, among others. My work is currently represented at The Washington Gallery in Waco, Texas, as well as, in September of '24, at the Eagle County Regional Airport - the gateway to Vail.

What About My Photography?

If you are at all familiar with my work, you know I like color – whether vibrant shades of wildflower blooms or pastel hues of sunset. And I enjoy my time outdoors. From night hikes through Big Bend National Park, kayaking in the pre-dawn light at Caddo Lake, or climbing a 14,000’ peak in Colorado, my desire to explore motivates my work. I firmly fit into the "Let's see what's around the next bend" category. I like to share what I see, and photography was a natural extension of that interest. I spend a fair amount of time scouting locations and use several apps to fine tune my expectations for photography, especially those apps offering precise locations for sunrise/sunset and moon phases as well as weather forecasts. With time spent exploring and weather-watching, every once in a while things work out and the sky comes alive with color, making the time spent driving and the long dark hikes worth the effort.

… And My Work?

Through the hours spent exploring, shooting, and post processing, my full-time job is to present a modest collection of scenes from around Texas and Colorado, as well as other far-away places. Through this, I share with clients my vision of our beautiful landscape though the highest available quality formats.

On my Prints Page, the options are displayed and described in a bit more detail, and include prints on fine art paper, canvas, metal, and acrylic.

For fine art prints and canvas, I work closely with a local printer in Austin -- Steve Porter at DTW Art and Framing. Steve and I have worked together for nearly 15 years and he does excellent work. I trust him with my livelihood because of his eye for detail and genuine attention to each file I send him, thus ensuring all clients walks away happy.

For prints on metal and acrylic, I use a company based in Denver. I’ve not found their quality matched anywhere closer to home – and I’ve tried!

Within this website, I have online galleries featuring my images from Colorado, as well as from Texas, Europe, and Iceland. It is our home-away-from-home - a beautiful state with so many unique landscapes, ranging from canyons in the western half of the state and prairie land on the eastern slope to high Rocky Mountain Peaks running down the center. I’m pleased to say I’ve even climbed 31 of the highest 14,000’ peaks in the state.

What Equipment do I use?

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve stopped lugging three or four lenses on lengthy hikes or on those adventures with considerable ascents. These days, I carry at most two lenses. While the days of my 3.2mb camera are long forgotten, I do miss the lightness of that little machine.

My primary camera is a medium format Fuji 100 GFX that brings 100mp of crisp and colorful detail. My backup is a Canon 5DSr, and my third-string camera is a Canon 5D3. My lenses cover 11mm through 400mm and come from both Fuji and Canon lines. Most often, lenses ranging from 15mm-70mm travel with me when out and about.

Safe travels! ~ Rob
