Eagle Point Trail in Caprock Canyons State Park is an easy trail that offers some nice finds if you venture off the trail. The two mile path crosses several washes, some of which lead to interesting rock formations or sweeping vistas. And I know there are more places out there we just haven't found yet. One of my favorite places to poke around was Tunnel Slot Canyon. This small canyon had walls up to 20' high and narrowed in a few spots, making for an interesting afternoon of exploration. With rock made of white gypsum and orange quartermaster sandstone, the layers were stunning.
On higher ground just off the trail, the canyon views at sunset were stunning, showing off not only a colorful sky, but the red rocks and sand that make up this remote area.
I look forward to returning here!
