Thank you for visiting my online gallery showcasing the beauty of Iceland. All images in these galleries are available as digital files or as fine art prints.
Located in the North Atlantic between Greenland and Ireland, Iceland is a Nordic country of fire and ice. From volcanoes and lava fields to glaciers and icebergs, this island-country of just over 350,000 people is an outdoor wonderland defined by its natural beauty. With over 200 named waterfalls and over 10,000 waterfalls throughout the country, the landscape offers a plethora of sightseeing and adventuring for those willing to make the journey.
This gallery is divided into several sub-galleries, each focusing on a specific region, as well as beautiful waterfalls and black-and-white photographs.
Reykjavik
As the capital and largest city of Iceland, Reykjavik is home to just over 135,000 people. Highlights include Hallgrímskirkja (church), the tallest point in the city and architectural marvel, the Rainbow Street, the port, and art displays across the area.
West Iceland
Focusing on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula and the natural wonders found in this national park, this sub-gallery offers waterfalls such as Kirkjufoss, quaint churches such as Ingjaldshólskirkja and Búðakirkja, and sweeping coastlines made from ancient lava.
North Iceland
The old whaling port of Husavik takes center stage in this gallery, along with the thermal region of the Mývatn and Krafla.
East Iceland
The artsy fjord town of Seyðisfjörður (population ~ 700) and areas south, down to the fishing village of Höfn (population ~ 2,000), highlight the photographs in this sub-gallery. Included are the Blue Church and the magnificent Vestrahorn and black sands beach in its shadow.
South Iceland
From the Westman Islands to Vik and over to Skaftafell National Park, the southern coast is full of opportunities for outdoor exploration. Highlights here include the Yoda Cave, Vikurkirkja. (church in Vik surrounding by Lupine in the early summer), waterfalls such as Seljalandsfoss, the black sands beaches of Vik and Reynisfjara, and my favorite – the hidden and not-well-known Mulagljufur Canyon.
Central Iceland
This area includes the Highlands and the famous Landmannalaugar as well as one of the most stunning waterfall areas in the country, Sigöldugljufur Canyon, and the bluest waterfall in Iceland, Bruarfoss.
Iceland Waterfalls
With over 10,000 waterfalls, Iceland offers all forms of flowing water – long cascades and high plummeting streams. This sub-gallery offers a few of my favorites.
Iceland in Black and White
This sub-gallery contains photographs of Iceland in black and white and all shades in between.
Lupine of Iceland
Colorful photos of lupine that appear across the country from May through late July.
