The town of Grand Lake sits just outside the southwest boundary of Rocky Mountain National Park and serves as a jumping off point for adventures within the park. But Grand Lake also has a lot to offer - from fishing and hiking to sailing and dining.
Established in 1881 as an outfitting and supply stop for mining operations such as Lulu City and Teller City, Grand Lake today is a mecca for tourists and outdoor enthusiasts. The town gains its name from the lake whose shores it rests on - Grand Lake - and sits at an elevation of 8,369 feet.
The Grand Lake area encompasses several beautiful lakes, including Grand Lake, Shadow Mountain Lake, Lake Granby, and a smaller body of water nestled in the mountains near Lake Granby, Monarch Lake.
