The Grand Junction area (Mesa County) offers a plethora of opportunities for outdoor recreation and exploration. This gallery shows of some of those places I've enjoyed through the kindness of locals who have shared some of their secrets. From the high elevation of the Grand Mesa to the valleys of Rattlesnake Canyon, Colorado National Monument, to the west-flowing waters of the Colorado River as it flows beneath Kokopelli Trail system through Horsethief Canyon, this area is vast and beautiful and strikingly different from the more well-known scenes from Colorado's mountains and peaks.
