Central Iceland implies areas that are away from the coast. Many are harder to access until mid-June when the snows melt and bumpy roads are clear. While I have many places in the highlands I’ve yet to visit, here are a few highlights from this gallery:
* The Landmannalaugar – a gateway to some of the most beautiful mountains in Iceland.
* Sigöldugljufur Canyon – also known as the Valley of Tears, this canyon is home to numerous small waterfalls
* Brúarfoss – a waterfall on the Brúara River regarded as having the bluest water Iceland.
* Midfoss – another waterfall along the Brúara River.
